What's in a dream?
In the softness of night-dark silence, or earth-safe blackness the unseen is waiting
There is a time for heat and a time for cool, a time for brightness and a time for the darkness. There is a time to see clearly and a time to rest your eyes. There is a time for furling outward into the world to be seen and a time for furling inward into the other world to remember.
What is there to a dream?
DREAM became known to me as quality that is self evident within the processes of creativity which is to say it is a function with distinct characteristics that can be found within the processes of life and living.
I think we need to step beyond the notion that dream-life is unreal, a not-reality that belongs to the world of sleep. After all, it is common place to talk about dreams as things we wish for, and sleep as a place we want to get to. A place that insomniacs need to get back to, to make waking life more habitable.
Dreamtender is written by a woman who has learned to treat the dreamed for as guidance and dream imagery as dynamic material for cultural revolution. “At this point it has got difficult” she says, “because that which is beautiful and nourishing beyond capitalist notions of production and consumption feels threatened and invalidated by most of the practices that are common place in life. So I am choosing to take up a little more space and get a little more vocal about the things that I think are important.”
Sometimes I just need to write
Sometimes I just need to make
Sometimes I need to remember
Sometimes I need to do nothing
Sometimes…
Let there be room for all of the things
So that in creativity we can respond
To what is happening in our worlds
To what is needed next this week, this hour, this moment.
I am creating a space for connection, sanctuary, creativity and dialogue. Let’s practice, play, explore and discuss.
There will be art and creative guidance here, poetry and movement.
Together we learn, together we grow.
